Raiders clinch 19th straight playoff berth
Fort Lauderdale - St. Thomas Aquinas clinched a 19th straight playoff berth as they easily handled McArthur 49-7 thanks to three touchdowns from junior wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.
The Raiders (7-0, 2-0 16-5A) scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters and held the Mustangs (4-3, 0-2) to 89 yards of total offense, 80 coming on a touchdown by senior running back Terry Brownlee.
After forcing McArthur into the first of many three-and-outs on their opening drive, St. Thomas took just one play to get on the board when quarterback Jacob Rudock found junior wide receiver Rashad Greene streaking down the left sideline for a 48-yard score.
Senior running back James White, who visited Wisconsin in September and had Badgers head coach Bret Bielema watching from the sidelines, made it 14-0. White also had a 70-yard run in the second quarter, but was caught at the 10.
Dorsett then showed off his skills to visiting coaches by making a superb diving touchdown catch on a throw from Ruduck.
With things well out of hand at 49-0 in the third quarter, Brownlee helped avoid the shutout with his long touchdown run.
