The outcome was never in doubt in St. Thomas Aquinas' victory against McArthur on Friday night.
The only question was how lopsided would be final margin would be.
The Raiders answered emphatically: 42 points.
Aquinas (7-0, 2-0) scored on its first seven possessions and got touchdowns from five different players in their 49-7 home victory against McArthur (4-3, 0-2) in a District 16-5A game.
With the victory, the Raiders clinched a playoff spot. But that's just the first step to St. Thomas' ultimate goal.
''I don't even want to talk about clinching,'' Aquinas coach George Smith said. ''To me, you've got to win it out.''
The Raiders' night started fast, and they did not let off the gas until the third quarter. After forcing McArthur into a three-and-out on the Mustangs' first possession, Aquinas had the ball 48 yards away from the end zone.
On the team's first offensive snap, Aquinas quarterback Jacob Rudock connected with wideout Rashad Greene for a 48-yard touchdown pass deep down the left side of the field.
Rudock finished 4 of 5 and three touchdowns.
On the Raiders' second possession, Lamarcus Joyner started with a 30-yard rush to the 9-yard line, and James White finished on the next play with a 9-yard touchdown run to the right side.
Aquinas was ahead 14-0 before six minutes had even expired.
Three minutes later, the Raiders extended their lead to 21 points when Phillip Dorsett stretched out for a 23-yard catch in the end zone.
Dorsett ended the game with three touchdowns on three touches -- one rush and two receptions.
''It was basically good blocking,'' Dorsett said. ''Lamarcus made a good block on the run, and Rashad made a good block on [one pass].''
St. Thomas scored three more times in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 42-0 lead.
After the half, St. Thomas switched to its second-team players and scored once more on a 17-yard touchdown by Nicholas Arena.
